Charlie Bird

Charlie is an award winning artist known for his innovative mosaic pieces. He is featured in numerous books about jewelry of the southwest and is in the permanent collection at museums.

Of Laguna and Santo Domingo descent, Charlie lived in California and Utah before returning to his roots in New Mexico. After an inspiring trip to Chaco Canyon, Charlie began working with stones. “I couldn’t get over the way the stones fit together and made their own mosaic. And then there were the openings to all of the rooms that created another pattern.” He has evolved the mosaic inlay to have a contemporary twist that is bold, graphic and highly sought after by collectors. The inlay process is one of patience and focus in aligning all the stones next to each other without gaps to achieve the desired pattern that was envisioned at conception. Charlie can often be found spending his time outside fishing and enjoying nature.
