Dennis Hogan

Although Dennis Hogan has a degree in economics and studio art, he has worked in advertising and financial planning. His passion for the western spirit and fine art motivated him to leave his career in business and move to Albuquerque, New Mexico to pursue his dream of becoming artist.

He began by braiding leather bola ties and worked for three year as an apprentice to his good friend Charlie Favour. In 2000, he moved to Santa Fe to create and sell his own leather and jewelry designs. Now he works as a full-time artist and strives to develop his skills each year.

His most recent work is heavily influenced by the old jewelry of the southwest.  Inspired by turn-of-the-century Navajo designs, Dennis forges his silver jewelry from ingot bars - hammering, stamping and filing into form as a silversmith would have over 100 years ago.  Dennis says that his life has been an accumulation of experiences, influences and hard work; his jewelry is clearly the result of the same.

Dennis considers himself lucky to be an artist and is most grateful to his friend Charlie Favour, his wife, and his family who has always supported his artistic journey. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico with his wife Lydia and daughters Alyvia and Victoria. He enjoys photography, fly fishing in Colorado, and spending time with his family.
